Heavy rainfall hits Bowie area with six inch totals
Rain drenched the Bowie area on Monday with Montague Stoneburg and Nocona seeing the heaviest totals exceeding six inches in places. Fruitland Experiment Station at Montague logged 3.58 inches while Cozart Feed Store Bellevue Montague Nocona Ringgold each reported multiple inches and some readings ranged 5 to 6 inches. Library Adds Children Programs and Forms Friends Group
Reading programs for ages 6 to 16 and story hours for 3 to 4 and 5 to 6 year olds have been arranged. Ronald Jenkins reported a year to date library outlay of 1650 dollars and the formation of Friends of the Library with Dr James Doughty as president Leon Partridge as vice president and Mrs E P Harris as secretary. An Auto Book Deposit costing 50 dollars was purchased. The council added Dr Nat Blake and Mrs Bill Jack Evans to the library board. Playground equipment at Pelham Park is installed and workmen are active.

Christian Church In Temporary Quarters
The First Christian Church began meeting in the East Ward School cafe till its new building is ready. Owners Jimmy Henderson Randal Peters of Bowie and Lagrand Henderson of Wichita Falls purchased the church property on East Wise street. A lease with Goodyear Co. sets a company store, with construction to finish this fall. The 6000 to 9000 square foot church will occupy hospital authority land.
