The Bowie festival runs Thursday through Saturday with a larger parade and more Miss Jim Bowie Queen and Tiny Tot entrants. Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes serves as parade marshal and attends a luncheon and reception. Performances include a rodeo nightly, a band concert, contests, and numerous exhibits. most events are free to the public.

U W Hudson of Southwestern Bell in Bowie was cited for heroism after saving a friend’s life in an automobile crash on January 14 1970. Hudson then a Fort Worth employee and companion J T Cook were riding home when the vehicle wreck occurred on the old Saginaw Highway.
