Highway Department Employees Cited For Winter Service
The Texas Highway Department saluted over nine thousand maintenance workers for their work during the severe winter and early spring. Crews cover 254 counties patch pavements repair structures maintain roadside vegetation rest areas and safety turnouts while acting as Good Samaritans during disasters. In the Panhandle Amarillo saw days of subfreezing weather with lengthy round the clock shifts and icy blasts reaching Houston as snow fell January 9.
