Fred L. Raborn Sr has sold the Raborn Motor Company Dodge Plymouth agency in Wichita Falls to R O Holder and Louis Sturdevant who take over Monday. The new owners, with Morgan Motor, have long Dodge Plymouth experience and will operate as Holder Sturdemont in Bowie joining their families there.
Dollar Day and Father’s Day values at Perkins-Timberlake feature new stock clothing with a dress sale at 1 and better dresses at 3. Nylon hose linen sheets muslin wear and men boys clothing are highlighted. C R Kern of Washington Kansas visited Mrs Hamilton Sunday, a cousin of her late husband.
Milton Leon Hop kins son of R V Hop kins of Turkey Creek near Bowie born in 193? stricken with polio Jan 12 1948 at 14 months. He faced loss of use of his right leg and waist down but received care at Crippled Children's Hospital Dallas and Bowie Fort Worth. Polio fund gifts totaling 875 dollars helped his treatment as he slowly regained movement and now getting about.
A. A. Randolph at the State Fruit Experiment Station reports the grape crop looks the best in years. He also notes a short peach crop expected, but remaining fruit should be of very high quality.
The Highlander Gasoline Company of Nocona plans over 50 000 feet of 12 inch pipe from the Lewis Stewart pool six miles northeast of Bowie. Feeder lines will extend to other fields in the Bowie area. The project, costing over 100 000 dollars, will benefit many local landowners and companies. Wichita Construction Company, led by manager Mark High at Bowie, handles ditching work for the project.
1950 U S Census data from Wichita Falls reveals Bowie city population at 4530 within corporate limits, with suburbs adding about 350 to an estimated 4880. Nocona rises to 3001 and Saint Jo to 1139, while Montague County totals drop to 17001 from 20442. Rural areas fall 36 percent to 8332 as nonresident credits adjust.
According to Buel E. Wright secretary of the Montague County PMA Office all producers who plan to seed wheat in 1951 on farms with no prior wheat in 1948 1949 or 1950 must file an allotment application with the County Committee by June 26 1950. This applies only to farms with no wheat seeded in the cited years.
The Bowie city council hires Hazen and Green of Lubbock to expand the sewage system at about 70000 dollars. The plan includes the Emhoff Tank and Digestive System, added pumps, and 3700 feet of sewer pipe. Financing aims to use current income with a low interest loan from First National Bank of Lowie, with work over roughly 18 months and city labor on parts of the project.

Spraying in the business district begins June 21 with Harve Ratliff Ike Parks Thomas Evans on the clean-up committee.
Waurika and Bowie, two leading district teams, square off Sunday afternoon on Bowie's greens. Waurika seeks to rebound after a loss to Jacksboro, while Bowie comes off a win against Nocona. A lively schedule and strong interest surround the event.
In the last Saturday election Salona and Bowie Independent School Districts rejected consolidation. Salona vote 12 for 16 against while Bowie favored 22 with 2 against.
District Court met briefly in Montague with Judge Lewis Holland on the bench. all civil cases are scheduled for the fall session following elections and the summer vacation period.
Rev J C Mann director of Bowie First Methodist Church was reappointed for another year at the Methodist Conference held last week. His family and many friends here celebrate the renewal. Bellevue pastor Rev W H Arnold and Denton district superintendent Rev Walton H Vanderpool were also reappointed. Mrs C C McNatt shows improvement after a week of illness.
