Milton Leon Hop kins son of R V Hop kins of Turkey Creek near Bowie born in 193? stricken with polio Jan 12 1948 at 14 months. He faced loss of use of his right leg and waist down but received care at Crippled Children's Hospital Dallas and Bowie Fort Worth. Polio fund gifts totaling 875 dollars helped his treatment as he slowly regained movement and now getting about.

Pipe Line Expansion Aims at Bowie Gas Fields

The Highlander Gasoline Company of Nocona plans over 50 000 feet of 12 inch pipe from the Lewis Stewart pool six miles northeast of Bowie. Feeder lines will extend to other fields in the Bowie area. The project, costing over 100 000 dollars, will benefit many local landowners and companies. Wichita Construction Company, led by manager Mark High at Bowie, handles ditching work for the project.

Census figures show Bowie gains while county declines

1950 U S Census data from Wichita Falls reveals Bowie city population at 4530 within corporate limits, with suburbs adding about 350 to an estimated 4880. Nocona rises to 3001 and Saint Jo to 1139, while Montague County totals drop to 17001 from 20442. Rural areas fall 36 percent to 8332 as nonresident credits adjust.

Allotment Applications Needed for Wheat 1951

Wright secretary of the Montague County PMA Office all producers who plan to seed wheat in 1951 on farms with no prior wheat in 1948 1949 or 1950 must file an allotment application with the County Committee by June 26 1950. This applies only to farms with no wheat seeded in the cited years.

New Disposal Plant Planned for Bowie Sewage System

The Bowie city council hires Hazen and Green of Lubbock to expand the sewage system at about 70000 dollars. The plan includes the Emhoff Tank and Digestive System, added pumps, and 3700 feet of sewer pipe. Financing aims to use current income with a low interest loan from First National Bank of Lowie, with work over roughly 18 months and city labor on parts of the project.
