Bowie Manufacturing Company Dedication Amid Downpour
More than 1,900 attendees braved heavy rain and gusty winds for the Bowie Manufacturing Company plant dedication on the Stoneburg highway. Founder J. M. Haggar and Mayor J. A. Spears cut a waistband ceremony as Ed Haggar announced 180 workers with plans to hire more. Visitors observed slacks production and the display included machine-by-machine placards while KBAN broadcast the dedication and the Bowie Chamber of Commerce helped distribute commemorative sections of the Bowie News.
