Bigger Peanut Production For Area Is Expected
There will be a bigger acreage of peanuts in the Bowie area this year than last season according to The Stepheny Peanut Company of Bowie. A better grade of seed is being planted this season and more care for better crop production. More commercial fertilizer is being bought by peanut farmers and based on experienced growers, greater production per acre is expected. A good price may be expected this year for the peanut crop though the only guarantee is 90 percent July parity. Peanut hay remains in demand as stock feed and cover crops are used to conserve soil fertility for continued peanut farming.
