Allred Opens Campaign in Wichita Falls for U S Senate
Former Texas governor James V Allred launched an eight week stump for the U S Senate in Wichita Falls on the Memorial Auditorium lawn. He introduced The Book of O Daniel and challenged Senator O Daniel to prove every statement true. He noted O Daniel was elected by 31 percent and claimed a different county vote could have defeated him. City officials and Bowie citizens attended as the Bowie High School band played before the speech.

No State Fair For This Year
The State Fair of Texas will not be held in 1942. Board president Harry L Seay cited national emergency conditions, transportation shortages, possible gasoline rationing, and limited shipping as factors. The fair grounds, valued at about 15 million dollars, have been offered to the U S Government for any use.

Tokyo Raid Relief Clears $150 Debt for Lieut Reddy
Lieut Kenneth Reddy of Bowie had a $150 debt canceled by Reese Allen, philanthropist, after the Tokyo raid note was paid. The canceled note was mailed to Mrs J W Reddy in Bowie. Allen said he would cancel more notes under the same circumstances. Reddy attended North Texas State Teachers College in Denton and paid most through work, with the loan taken in his final year. Allen has aided 1700 to 800 young men through college since starting a loan fund in 1917 18 in memory of his son killed at Princeton.

Highway Patrolmen Enlist In Navy
Texas patrolman Jim Nance resigned to enlist in the United States Navy after arriving in Bowie to work with Patrolman Jimmy Young. Leslie Spier, D. O. Frederick Woman Seriously Injured In Wreck Tuesday
Alice Black of Frederick Oklahoma was seriously injured in a truck car collision near Sunset Tuesday afternoon. Wiley Voyle of Frederick, driver of the car, was less seriously injured and released after hospital treatment. Mrs Black, returning from her daughter's Dallas wedding, suffered a concussion and a broken right arm. J D McKinney of Slidel, truck driver, was uninjured. Mrs Black remains under hospital care with her family at her side.
