Noli M Nicholson of Gaines will come to Bowie Friday to take the advertising manager post at the Bowie News. He replaces George Holt who departs to Commerce to become advertising manager there. Nicholson and his wife Alice and their six year old daughter Nolleen will reside in Bowie after renting a house on Newport highway. Nicholson served in World War II and the Air Force and has worked at Pauls Valley Enterprise and Stillwater Daily News. He studied at Southwestern University and Ardmore Baptist Institute.

Crop Duster Dies in Plane Crash Near Montague
Denton man Robert G. Hammond aged 28 died when his light crop dusting airplane crashed into a tree ten miles southeast of Montague after dusting a field. He had been a Braniff pilot on furlough and died at Bowie Hospital. He leaves a widow, three children, and his Denton parents.

Ringgold Girl Drowns While Wading
Patsy Jane Walker age 13 of Ringgold drowned in a creek near Red River while wading on Wednesday. She was with other children, her uncle and father fishing. Palmotor efforts to revive her failed. Funeral services planned at Ringgold Baptist Church at 2:30. Survivors include her parents two brothers two sisters and grandparents Mr and Mrs I A Blackman and Mr and Mrs F E Walker of Ringgold.

Aries Conglomerate Field Opens Near Sunset
Aries Oil Co completed the No. 1 E. Q. Smith conglomerate discovery in the Aries Caddo field four miles east of Sunset. Eight Caddo wells have been completed since November in this fast growing area near Bowie. The No. 1 test flowed 192 barrels per day of 44.2 gravity oil from 6125 to 6135 feet with 16/64 inch choke. gas oil ratio 650 to 1. bottomed at 6141 feet. The field may be named Aries Conglomerate Field.

Radar speed checks begin in Wise County Texas
The Flexus State Highway Patrol will install radar for enforcing speed and traffic violations in Wise county starting August 4. Captain Jack Sutherland notes this is one of Texas first radar demonstrations and that the equipment surpasses standard speedometers. Some Bowie drivers may see the system next week as it moves through the county. Special patrol members have received training to operate the new radar system now being installed statewide.
