A local group including C V Young Glyn Darden C E Hill and Howard Wheeler paid a stranger’s fine after he illegally crossed the center line to park in front of the Post Office. The man left Bowie promising not to return, while the community kept order in traffic. The note accompanying the check welcomed him back to Bowie.

Bowie city council at Mondsey's regular meeting ordered the valves at Lake Amon G. Carter closed after two months to remove low-oxygen water. Regular rains kept lake near capacity with water six inches below the spillway. Other business included a postage meter sales pitch and traffic and parking discussions. Bowie High School Band will meet at seven o clock in Rucker Hall on Thursday August 2. Band director Jack Wilbanks urges all students who can attend as August rehearsals will be decided then. The one and a half hour session will include music for the next football season.
