New 20 Inch Gas Pipeline to Be Built in May
Construction of a 20 inch natural gas pipeline across Wise and Montague counties is planned to start in May. The line will transport gas from a Warren Petroleum plant to be built between Bridgeport and Lake Bridgeport, join a Chicago to Pampa line at Chickasha, Oklahoma, and pass east of Sunset toward Illinois Bend before heading north to Oklahoma. The Nat ural Pipeline Co of America will construct the main line with a Bowie based project manager handling right of way.

Raid Nets $529 In Bowie Liquor Case
A Bowie raid yielded 529 dollars in fines and costs and three and a half cases of liquor. Melvin Williams pleaded guilty to possession of intoxicating liquor and received a 150 dollar fine plus costs. Ezra Williams pleaded guilty to liquor and sale in a dry area and was fined 150 dollars and costs on each count totaling 300 dollars. State Liquor Control Board representatives and constable J C Hendrix secured evidence and, on recommendation of the county attorney, Judge Howard Mays imposed the penalties.

Several Car Wrecks Recently at School Corner
A collision at the Tarrant and Mill streets intersection, known as the school corner, left Miss Lucille Hill and Roger Preuninger with two damaged cars. Hill reported $450 in damage and suffered cuts and bruises after brakes failed. Preuninger’s vehicle sustained about $250 in damage.

Car wreck near Bell service station injures Pope and grain truck
Kenneth Pope's 1946 Chevrolet was almost demolished after colliding with the rear of a grain truck loaded with 25,000 pounds of grain in front of the Bell service station on Friday. Pope's car wedged under the truck, causing only a broken left dual hanger on the truck. Rev and Mrs. Austin Carrigan hosted weekend guests from Fort Worth, Mr and Mrs W W Wells and their daughter.
