Remembering Mrs. John A. Young Pioneer of Bowie
Mrs. John A. Young, longtime Bowie resident, died last Thursday in Bowie. A pioneering civic leader and singer, she helped establish local education, church and club activities born to Arkansas migrants, she moved to Bowie at age 15 and supported the community for 76 years. Her husband, a noted contractor, built many Bowie buildings and their daughter, Mrs. Will Young, continues her civic legacy.

Bowie fire crews responded to two trash fires since February 2 aside from the Walker fire. A grass fire burned at 1108 Jefferson Street near Mrs. Bob Holloway's home and another grass fire occurred on Jones Street behind James Henry's residence. Both were caused by burning trash.
