Roy G Williams of the US Post Office was gored by a live bull on Sunday morning. He sustained several minor wounds, described by coworkers as minor, after being charged by El Toro during a chaotic street scene.
A letter to the Bowie News urges residents to fund a new stadium replacing Hardin Simmons facilities at a target of about 30000 dollars. The writer cites other cities raising large sums quickly and notes a secret congressional pay vote, while referencing campus unrest and detoured flights to Miami.
Bowie News prints Mr Arnold remarks about the Woodall death last week saying he could not identify the age of the figure nor confirm hair color headwear or clothing details. He learned on Wednesday night that anyone was missing.

The 1969 Jim Bowie Days celebration organization meeting will be held tonight at 7:30 in the Community Room of The First National Bank. Organizations should send representatives. officers and committees will be formed and sponsorships set for the June festivities.
The Burleson Elks defeated the Bowie Jackrabbits 46 to 44 to create a three way tie in District 3-AAA girls basketball. With one night remaining, any of three teams could clinch the district title depending on tonight's results. cont'd on page 14.
Montague County Unit TSTA held its mid winter meeting in Forestburg Monday night electing delegates to District IX in Vernon March 6 and 7. Delegates include R F Thompson Prairie Valley and Nocona. Clara Hoeldtke Helen Jeffries Bowie. John Henderson Saint Jo. Ellis Ivey UI Goldburg. Melvin Fenoglio Montague. Dr Harold C Sunderman of North Texas State University spoke on the communication gap among teachers children and parents. Cont'd on page 10.
The Bellevue City Council meeting on February 10 discussed mayor and two alderman vacancies and named three men Glenn Shoemaker Clovis Stillwell and E B Thompson to seek candidates. The council also voted to accept sealed bids on the old fire truck and water pump with bids due March 1 and opened that day.
The Bowie Memorial Hospital board held its annual election on February 13. N. B. Gary Jr. was elected President replacing Charles W. Coffield. Dr. James Doughty became Vice President succeeding Ward Stine. Roy D. Sanders Jr. was named Secretary, with Coffield, Stine, Richardson Jr, and Campbell continuing as directors.
The Bowie Heart Fund Drive described as a huge success by President Bob Bourdeaux saw generous citywide contributions after a door to door canvass. Donations total $1276.47 at First National Bank with more expected to meet the $1600 goal for Montague County. Howard Wolf Company departments held a bake sale and crafts contest raising $130.25. The Bowie Jackrabbit track team heads to Decatur for a warm up scrimmage with five other squads. Willie Brooks has trained the team for about two weeks as weather allows. The 1969 schedule opens March 1 with a trip to Ennis for a major meet.
The bi district basketball match between Midway and Krum is scheduled for February 25 at 7 30 p m in the Bowie High School gym. The winner advances to the regional round at Stephenville on February 28 and March 1. Midway is in 29B and Krum is in District 30.
