Jim Bowie Meet Set For Tonight

The 1969 Jim Bowie Days celebration organization meeting will be held tonight at 7:30 in the Community Room of The First National Bank. Organizations should send representatives. officers and committees will be formed and sponsorships set for the June festivities.

Bellevue Discusses Election and Bids at City Council

The Bellevue City Council meeting on February 10 discussed mayor and two alderman vacancies and named three men Glenn Shoemaker Clovis Stillwell and E B Thompson to seek candidates. The council also voted to accept sealed bids on the old fire truck and water pump with bids due March 1 and opened that day.

Bowie Hospital Authority Elects New Officers

The Bowie Memorial Hospital board held its annual election on February 13. N. B. Gary Jr. was elected President replacing Charles W. Coffield. Dr. James Doughty became Vice President succeeding Ward Stine. Roy D. Sanders Jr. was named Secretary, with Coffield, Stine, Richardson Jr, and Campbell continuing as directors.

Bowie Heart Fund Drive Achieves Big Success

The Bowie Heart Fund Drive described as a huge success by President Bob Bourdeaux saw generous citywide contributions after a door to door canvass. Donations total $1276.47 at First National Bank with more expected to meet the $1600 goal for Montague County. Howard Wolf Company departments held a bake sale and crafts contest raising $130.25. Bowie Jackrabbits Ready For Decatur Scrimmage

The Bowie Jackrabbit track team heads to Decatur for a warm up scrimmage with five other squads. Willie Brooks has trained the team for about two weeks as weather allows. The 1969 schedule opens March 1 with a trip to Ennis for a major meet.

Bi District Game Set Between Midway and Krum at Bowie

The bi district basketball match between Midway and Krum is scheduled for February 25 at 7 30 p m in the Bowie High School gym. The winner advances to the regional round at Stephenville on February 28 and March 1. Midway is in 29B and Krum is in District 30.
