Bowie leaders plan to consult with the highway department to maximize the town’s benefit from highway traffic. The Texas Motel Association notes a gas stop yields about 11 dollars to several merchants while an overnight stay brings roughly 30 dollars to the town. Coupled with other local notes, the issue anchors a Friday inspection for a civil defense hospital site at Pelham Park.

Band Plans Trip to Corpus Christi Bucaneer Festival

Lone Star Gas Rate Increase Approved by Texas Commission
Lone Star Gas Company president L T Potter says the Texas Railroad Commission order of February 15 authorizes a 5.4 cent per thousand cubic feet increase in intra city gas gate charges for residential and commercial customers. The rise raises the Distribution Division costs but sits 4.6 cents below pre 1942 levels. Transmission Division will start billing the extra 5.4 cents from the effective date, to fund gas supplies in a competitive market despite not meeting the full request.
