Way Walker Killed in Wreck Near Montague
Alpha Ray Walker age 14, son of J C Walker and wife, died in a head on collision near the Mount Tabor schoolhouse four miles east of Montague. His brother J C Walker Jr 18 and Ruth Walker 16 also in the car survived injuries. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Montague with Burgess Funeral Home directing. Survivors include parents four brothers and three sisters.

Suspected Robber Caught After Alvord Station Incident
Police and night watchman pursued a young man in a Nebraska plate car after a noon chase. The suspect surrendered near Alvord and was arrested in Decatur on charges linked to a local filling station robbery. He was found with a .82 revolver a Dirk knife and a Social Security card reading Melton Graham 26 of Twin Falls Idaho.

Ho-To-Ma-We the Indian mezzo soprano and Cleo Allen Hibbs composer pianist presented a well received MacDowell Club concert Monday night as part of the Hollywood Art Series. James Solomon Sandlin buried Thursday in Bow ie
Funeral services for James Solomon Sandlin were held at his Hutchison Street home with Rev. A J Quinn presiding and burial in Chico Cemetery. Sandlin died Tuesday after long illness. Born November 3 1853 in Morgan County Alabama he married Rebecca York in 1874. He lived in Texas many years and is survived by three daughters two sons eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren plus a sister.

Ringgold High School Eagles defend the Montague county basketball title by beating Bowie Jackrabbits 33 to 28 in the final at the local high school gym. Ringgold had a first round bye then crushed Nocona 87 to 20 in the quarterfinals and Forrestburg 35 to 14 in the semifinals. Bowie defeated Bonita Prairie Point and Stoneburg to reach the final.
