Elizabeth Watkins a Bowie pioneer died at her East Elba Street home last Friday after years of poor health. Services were Sunday at her home by Rev. A. J. Quinn of First Baptist. Burial followed at Elmwood cemetery. Born April 29 1858 in Alabama she helped found Queen's Peak before the town moved and became Bowie. She was widow of H. B. Watkins and survived by sons E. M. Watkins Bowie and Howard Watkins Carlsbad NM. Pallbearers named. honorary pallbearers listed.

Singers and music lovers gathered at Stoneburg for an all day singing. The outstanding performers were the Alvord Quartet Kathleen Leeth Patsy Majors Joanne Mosley and Virginia Champion. Father of Bowie Woman Dies in Cleburne
Funeral services were held for H. A. McLaren father of Mrs. Pete Miller of Bowie. McLaren died Wednesday afternoon at his home in Cleburne after years of poor health. He had long been a Cleburne resident and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad before retirement.
