Bond Delivered by Neighbor Returns to Randolphs
A misdelivered series bond from 1943-44 was found by a Bowie neighbor while cleaning an attic. The bond, originally mailed to 1203 Rock Street in Electra, belonged to the Randolphs who had moved to Denver City in 1945. The neighbor returned it by registered mail after confirming ownership, leaving the bond now worth about 125 dollars with accrued interest.

Bowie School District to Elect Two Board Members
Patrons of the Bowie school district will elect two members to the school board on April 3 after the board of trustees set the date. Filing deadline is March 3 with the basement city auditorium as the sole polling place. A. C. Baccus named election judge. terms of Stanley Arrington and Weldon Cox expire. Arrington was appointed last summer to replace Ira Stark.

Bowie board of trustees approves preliminary plans for a modern high school. Killebrew and Associates of Wichita Falls will prepare detailed drawings with Roy D. Sanders Jr. of Bowie. Target date for drawings is May 1. The board places 750000 on six month time deposits and 250000 on eight month deposits at First National Bank of Bowie at 4 percent.

City superintendent resigns prompting council search
The head of the city and school system resigned Tuesday night after serving since August 1963. The council moved to contract a bridge project and approved donating dirt to the Hospital Authority. They discussed additions to Bowie housing, fireman off days, and pool halls with no vote yet. Budget prep for the next year was urged by the finance chair.

John Bennett received the Man of the Year honor at the Bowie Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet. He and his brother Gene lead Bennett Oil Company and helped secure an airport for Bowie and a four lane U S 287 through Montague County.
