Police Chief and Fire Marshal A J Martin urges the public to stay away from fire scenes to avoid injury and hinder responders. He warns of live wires and danger from collapsing lines if bystanders ignore the rule. The item follows civic notes on tax receipts and local community updates.
The National Children's Theatre Association of Dallas staged The Little Lame Prince at the high school auditorium on February 10. The performance benefited all junior and elementary school students.

Ferocious winds in Bowie Tuesday lashed the town with up to 60 mph gusts. A 75 foot car-port at the 61 Motel was blown apart and toppled against a nearby house occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Arrington. Roofs suffered damage, a neon sign at Farmer's Cafe fell, and the APCO sign at Montague Farmer's Co-op was torn loose. Minor damage included shingles and other small effects.
William Erne Benson a Bowie lawyer died at home February 9 after a long illness. Born August 17 1887 in Aurora Texas he studied at Sunset High and UT Law School and opened practice in Sunset in 1914. He later partnered with his brother D B Benson and moved to Bowie in 1918. He served as assistant county attorney in 1912 1913 and helped lead the Bowie Chamber of Commerce. Funeral Feb 10 at 2 30 pm in First Baptist burial Elmwood Cemetery Burgess Funeral Home. Survived by Grace Benson wife daughter Mrs Jack Slayden brother D B Benson and two grandchildren
The city election will be held April 5 with three council seats to fill. Aldermen up for re election include R. L. Garrett Ward I J T Bob White Ward II and Lloyd Butler Ward III.

Thieves broke into the Kow Kow Korner cafe Wednesday night and stole about 300 dollars. Cash from the register, cigarette machine, and jukebox totals are estimated between 150 and 170, 77, and 80 dollars respectively. They entered through the west door and left ice cream candy and strawberry preserves as they fled. Police Chief A J Martin investigated.

The First Methodist Church Junior Choir will travel to Wichita Falls for three days of rehearsals and join a mass concert of church choirs on Sunday. Sponsored by the American Guild of Organists, it marks Bowie's first ever participation in this annual event. The concert begins at 3:00 p.m. and is open to the public at the First Methodist Church in Wichita Falls.
The First Baptist Church hosts a sweetheart banquet for its young people Friday at 8:00 p.m. with the theme Love Makes the World Go Round. Gene Garrison of Grapevine will speak, and the crowning of a king and queen is featured.
The city will build a $40,000 pavilion and meeting place in Pelham Park to memorialize Amon G. Carter. The Samuel Foundation awarded the contract and the winning bid required $12,000 more to fit architect specifications. Carter left $25,000 in his will for recreational uses via the Foundation, city, and a committee known as the Chicken and Bread Boys. The pavilion will host open air dances picnics and other public gatherings with Roy D. Sanders Jr as resident architect.
