The Lions Club in a basement banquet held a 10 week bean vs chicken contest with sides of entertainment. Harry Dreyfuss led the losing side to beans while Rev. A J Quinn and Tom Gillis spoke and new members were announced by club officers. The event featured the Home Economics class of Bowie High School and a reception for many guests from Decatur and Wichita Falls.

Bowie Citizen Arrested Charged With Robbery
Formal charges of robbery were lodged against W. H. Segler aged about 45 in Montague Wednesday morning. Officers found in Segler's attic five men's suits, numerous ladies' dresses, shoes and other apparel and auto accessories identified as stolen from R. A. Pigg General Merchandise on Mason street three weeks earlier. Segler confessed to three robberies at J. H. Smith grocery and two at Pigg's store in the past two months. He is a widower with four children.
