Two Wrecks Within 100 Feet Near Bowie In One Hour
Two wrecks occurred about six miles west of Bowie on highway 287 within 100 feet of each other an hour apart on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Charlotte Pfeiffer Ryan of Grand Prairie drove a 1952 Lincoln sedan toward Bowie as she passed a diesel truck, with a gasoline truck behind it attempting to pass. Sutton signaled to back off and a collision followed. Ryan’s car was knocked into the rear of the first truck. Richard Patrick 3 and John Joseph 6 months were with her but unharmed. The other involved truck was a 1954 International owned by Webb Oil of Dallas and driven by George Stephen English. It carried about 600 gallons of gasoline. Damages were about 90 dollars to the Buick and 25 dollars to each truck, with the Buick a total loss. Police and ambulance personnel assisted at the scene.
