Burglar Strikes P. A. Grocery Montague
The P. A. Grocery and Market in Montague operated by Joe Carmignati was burglarized last Friday night. About $200 in cash and merchandise totaling roughly $500 vanished, including 48 cartons of cigarettes 18 khaki pants and shirts and 12 blue denim pants. Entry was likely through a pried front door and the cash taken from an iron vault with hammer and chisel.

Claude L. Martin Sr. 60, a prominent Bowie citizen, died near 10 p m Wednesday at his home after a brief illness. Funeral at First Baptist Church Bowie Friday at 2 p m conducted by Rev G B Bradshaw. Burial Elmwood Cemetery Burgess Funeral Home in charge. He was born June 6 1890 and led Sunset State Bank before moving to Dallas in 1928 to own Nehi Royal Bottling Co. He returned to Bowie later, served one term as City Alderman and financed local property deals. Continued on Page 8.
