Couple Escapes Injury In Fort Worth Highway Crash
A young couple, Mr and Mrs Richard E McIntosh, escaped serious injury when their car left the highway near the Y and struck a Buick billboard frame in Fort Worth. They were aided by Police Chief A J Martin and Officer William Conway and taken to Bowie hospital. The driver faced charges for expired license failing to stop and speeding. The couple, en route from Wichita Kansas to establish a home in Fort Worth, were bruised but not seriously hurt. The car was a total loss.

Robbins Enters Bowie Mayoral Race Promise of Full Time Service
Elvin Robbins files to run against Mayor J A Spears in Bowie for the April election. Robbins, who served 1946 58 in Bowie in street and city roles, pledges to work full time for the city if elected subject to council approval. He has since worked in Wichita Falls and for a Bowie contractor and is now with J P Finn. Filing deadline is March 4.

Mishap is Fatal for Drilling Rig Worker J D Estep
J D Estep about 30 died after a crane cable slipped on a Rayna Drilling site southwest of Sunset. The Gulf State Truck Lines driver from Shreveport was injured at 9 30 am and died at Bowie Clinic before noon. He leaves a wife and possibly one child in Shreveport.

The March of Dimes drive ended Tuesday. The Amity Club door to door canvass raised 404 dollars. Other sources including coin deposits and school donations added 199.52 dollars. The city grand total reached 603.52 dollars.

Bowie United Fund directors met Thursday and voted to pay 80 percent of raised quotas to participating agencies from a drive totaling 6384.63 on an almost 8000 goal. Agencies must accept pro rata funds and will not run separate drives. A nominating committee was named to replace retiring directors including Ernest Chandler and others.
