In Montague County the peanut marketing quota referendum passed with 82 in favor and 18 against from 100 ballots cast. Eighty two growers supported quotas while 18 opposed, reflecting a narrow statewide approval with mixed local results.
Bowie High joins District 12AA with Jacksboro Decatur Olney and Nocona. District officers elected Claude H Thompson Bowie chairman E W McPherson Nocona secretary. Schedule lists Bowie hosting Decatur Olney Nocona Jacksboro and Decatur hosting Bowie Jacksboro Olney, with bye weeks noted.
The county outlines multiple road paving efforts for farm to market routes. A 5.6 mile section between Bowie and Washti will be let in February and extend to the Clay county line. Right of way for the new road will be fenced in about ten days. Additional plans include six miles from Bowie to Salona and possible extension to Forestburg with bids sought from Forestburg to Wise county line.

The service featured multiple carols, readings by Mrs. R. E. Mattingly, a Joy Gift explanation, candle lighting led by Rev. C. A. Tucker, and a Silent Night recessional. A second program aired December 21 by the choir. A Christmas sermon, a film, and a Santa appearance Friday evening were announced for parishioners.
A man identified as O. J. Watson, believed from a northern state, was found with severe head injuries Wednesday afternoon near the railroad tracks six miles west of Bowie, close to where Milton Barlow was killed by a train. He was found by a Bellevue couple, semi conscious, and taken to Bowie Hospital by Burgess ambulance.
Bowie City Council on December 14 awarded a contract to B R Gardner of Amarillo for the new Imholl Sewer Disposal plant at 35134.32 dollars with six bidders total. The work includes two pump stations to divert and lift flows serving about 80 residences, plus repairs to reservoirs at the East Tarrant plant.
Recorder Barney Whitehead assessed three fines against persons running red lights in Bowie this week and two fines for drunkenness.
