Football Coach Arrives in Bowie Thursday
Thomas C. Dutch Schneider has been elected football coach and teacher of American History and Civics at Bowie High School for the next school year arriving in Bowie Thursday morning. A Gatesville graduate, he earned a BA in 1984 from Baylor University where he lettered in football three years and has pursued most of his master's work there. He previously served as a teacher and assistant football coach at Bastrop, Texas.

First 1938 Cotton Ginned Here Tuesday
The Saws of the Nompeon Gin harvested the season’s first cotton Tuesday at 5 PM near Bowie. J. B. Summers and son on Moody farm produced 1230 pounds seed cotton resulting in a 410 pound bale, bought by Frank Benson at ten cents per pound. Bale displayed at Majestic Theatre with a $26.25 premium from the Chamber of Commerce. Last year’s first bale arrived five days earlier weighing six pounds more at ten cents per pound.

Revival at Church of Christ Two-Week Meet Begins Aug 21
The Church of Christ will start a two week revival on Sunday August 21 ending Sunday September 4. Evangelist Elder O M Reynolds of Beaumont will preach with Elder A F Thurman serving as pastor. First Baptist Church Closes 14 Day Revival
The First Baptist Church ended a 14 day revival begun July 31 on Sunday night August 14. Dr W W Melton of Seventh and James Street Baptist Church Waco preached with effective delivery. Approximately eight hundred attended Sunday services. The revival added 34 new members, 22 by baptism. Music was led by G Jackson with Miss Mary Coe and Miss Dixibel Turns at the piano.
