Mrs. Annie H Turns aged 50 died Saturday at a local hospital after months of illness. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev J Doss and Rev A J Quinn officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery. Survivors include husband H L Turns two sons H L Turns Jr and Harlow Turns a daughter Dixiebel Simms two brothers Herman M Harlow and Helia A Harlow a sister Mrs Waters Wood and several relatives and friends attended.

The Bowie Grocery Store was robbed of 112 dollars in cash and silver last Thursday night. Thieves accessed the building through the roof, tore tin covering, drilled holes in the ceiling, and used a rope to descend to the rear. The safe was opened with a cold chisel, but owner Joe Garlington said only cash was taken. checks remained. Police and county officers are investigating with no arrests yet.

Harold Prater Injured In Car Wreck Sunday
Harold Prater son of Mr and Mrs W H Prater of Bowie was seriously injured in a car accident 12 miles below Belton Texas early last Sunday morning He was en route to Bowie for his first furlough since enlisting in September 1939 He is stationed at Cuero Texas in the air corps and suffered a crushed chest slight concussion and severe shock He was reported late Tuesday to be much improved and past danger of complications from the injuries.

Her dog Blackie accompanied her, showing obedience as Powell, who became blind after brain surgery five years ago, urged support for the non profit program that trains shepherd dogs as guides.
