The Bowie fire department recorded 19 calls since January 1 with two grass fires and no property loss. Eleven calls involved residences, one total loss, property value about 45 500 with 2 510 in losses. Five auto and truck fires caused 97 80 in losses. The department has 17 volunteers led by chief A. Baccus. D. Hawkins drives the truck. Charlie Jackson is fire marshal. Three to five boys sleep at the hall. drills twice a month and two regular meetings.

DECATUR Texas August 13 Camps fires glowed in Joe Wheeler Park as Wise County pioneers gathered for the Fifty third Old Settlers and Confederate Reunion opening on Wednesday for three days. An attendance of 10 000 was expected by Cliff Cates reunion committee. State officials planned addresses and an old fiddlers contest with a square dance set for Friday night.

Price Filling Station Robbed Saturday Night
Roy Price's service station on South Mills street was broken into late Saturday night and robbed of cigarettes tobacco and candy valued at about 10 dollars. Entry was gained by tearing boards from the rear door. The burglary was discovered by Wrex Wesson and Virgil Bowling when they opened for business Sunday morning. Price is on vacation in Arkansas.
