Cheap Farm Cistern Described for Hay Subsoil Regions

A description from Ohio Farmer explains building a cheap durable cement cistern on clay subsoil farms. Start with a circle and deepen in steps to form a jug shape, then inscribe a second larger circle to create a shoulder for a brick top. A brick top prevents frost chipping and aids sanitation. After drying, chisel crevices, then trowel cement on walls, finish the brick top, seal with cement, and add sewer tile. A large, sanitary cistern will supply ample water.
