Directors Elected at Bowen Building and Loan Meeting
The annual stockholders meeting in the Bowen Building and Loan Association elected three directors for three years J C Herron W R Harris and C W Stockton. Two directors were chosen to fill two year vacancies G F Warner and S H Kelley. The board will meet on the first Tuesday in April at G F Warners office to elect officers for the year. Series six stock is open for purchase at G F Werner secretary's office before April first.

Fire destroys Obed Simpson barn. horses and gear lost
Monday a barn on the Obed Simpson farm, now owned by Gerald Finly, burned with three horses, corn, hay, farming implements and a new buggy inside. The blaze started after a lantern exploded in the hay mow. Seward escaped with one horse as smoke forced him out. The loss, borne mainly by Sam Simpson, is described as heavy.

Boy fined and jailed for interfering with U S marshal
Bert Thomas of Schuyler county was fined 160 dollars and three months in prison for interfering with an officer in the line of duty. Unable to pay, his sentence was extended to four months. He rode to warn Harve Hill, who was wanted for illegal liquor sales, then said he would not have warned him if he knew the law would punish him.
