Newburgh New York September 17 Patrick Brennan aged about 65 or 66 became a father for the twenty third time when a fourteen pound boy was born. Brennan an Irish immigrant has been twice married nine of his children by the first wife and fourteen by the present. He has held office as supervisor and other posts and now serves as a special policeman at Washington’s historic headquarters. Once wealthy his large family has left him poor though many children survive.
Marysville Ohio reports on the Kenton Pike haunted mansion in Union County. A brick two story home once owned by McGlory drew locals with spectral knocks and window destruction. A Black laborer fled in terror after a night of rattling doors and ghostly sounds. A schoolteacher stayed to investigate and blamed warped green timber and winter cold for the poltergeist activity. He found frozen pumpkins under a bed housing Norway rats and declared the mystery solved. Neighbors rejected the explanation and the site later vanished, leaving the legend to endure.
Ezra Cooper, a Pittsburg banker and millionaire, was acquitted after a protracted trial in Erie Pennsylvania. Three men who admitted arranging the case for Mrs Cooper to gain a divorce for 3000 were sentenced to pay 2000 in costs and fled. they face arrest and possible conspiracy suits.
In Brookfield Indiana two Mormon elders preached for two weeks and visited Laurel area. J A Niles, authorized to act for the indemnity party formed in 1881, says officials drove them off after they improved the land, incurring heavy costs defending their titles.

Ellen F T Meagher of 304 Harrison Ave a 40 year old Irish nurse in Boston recovered from months of rheumatism vomiting and paralysis after attending a novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She walked to mass rose from bed and has since regained strength amid disbelief from doctors and observers noting a miraculous improvement.
Timothy Shields, a six foot eight inch, 220 pound colored man from Howard County, visited Baltimore for the Oriole carnival. He stood on the sidewalk blocking the view as Lord Baltimore was saluted by the crowd. Shields has four children, three sons, averaging six foot two, with weights around 218 to 240 pounds.
Secretary Blodgett of the Williambirg Gas Company has received the first contribution of conscience money ever. The item appears in a Brooklyn dateline dated September 12. It notes a historic gesture by the gas firm in response to public concern.

A 13 year old Liverpool lad Charles Rawlins stowed away aboard the Leyland steamship Bavarian and landed at Hoosac Tunnel docks last Tuesday. Orphaned since age six and living in boxes lofts and carts he drifted from Liverpool to Germany and Boston before meeting Cyrus Howland who provided new clothes. He now works as a rivet boy near Cunningham's Iron Works with a grateful employer and a hopeful future.
Detroit dispatch reports the eight mile woods death of Frank Devereaux. He was living near the scene and killed in a bear fight, with wounds from claws and teeth. The bear show signs of gunshot wounds, and the struggle left clear traces in the area.
