Death of General James B. Steedman in Toledo
General James Barrett Steedman, born July 30 1818 in Northumberland County Pennsylvania, died of pneumonia in Toledo on October 21. A veteran of Ohio politics and Civil War service he led the Fourteenth Ohio and later commanded in the Army of the Cumberland. He resigned as a general July 16 1886 and was once an internal revenue collector at New Orleans. His comrades called him Old Steady.
