London dispatch notes riots in Trafalgar Square last Sunday and a tense political climate. It describes police violence, working-class anger, Radical leaders under pressure, and legal disputes over proclamations and voter cases affecting England and Ireland.
In Paris the extreme Left pushed an interpellation in the Chamber of Deputies. The ministry’s motion to postpone the debate failed 326 to 242. The chamber adjourned amid tension after the resignation was handed to President Grevy.
