At the tenth annual meeting of the Woman's Executive Committee of Home Missions at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia Grover Cleveland was elected a life member. Miss Rose Cleveland, sister of the President, attended and spoke briefly.

Washington May 27 Reverend Samuel H Giesy D D rector of the Church of the Epiphany died this afternoon of pneumonia. He was born in Lancaster Ohio August 24 1826 and graduated from Franklin and Marshall College Mercersburg Pennsylvania in 1845. He served as a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church until 1872.

David Culver of Forty Fort showcased a horizontal water wheel in the Susquehanna opposite the Dorrance breaker. The 50 foot diameter wheel with eight blades produced about half a horsepower on a swift current, with potential to generate power without dams.
