Exposé of Keeler the Boston medium at Davis Street
A Globe investigation reveals Pierre L. C. A. Keeler staging séances at 8 Davis Street Boston with gaslight kerosene lamp and mechanical gimmicks. Police inspectors Knox Mountain and Professor Dayton join a staged cabinet ploy exposing a fake spirit and a crew of confederates including a four eyed man and other assistants. The exposure ends with Keeler stripped of costumes and a public demand for refunds.

Wakefield Rattan Industry Founder Built a Legacy
The Wakefield rattan works, once the world’s largest, were destroyed by fire. Cyrus Wakefield, born 1811 in Roxbury NH, built a vast US rattan business from Boston to South Reading, creating imports, machinery driven manufacture, and comprehensive town gifts. He helped rename South Reading to Wakefield in 1868 and funded a major town hall and monuments.
