Reports from Oman Nebraska say engineers on Burlington parallel lines and related roads including Union Pacific Missouri Pacific Northwestern Rock Island and St Joseph and Grand Island will walk out tomorrow. Switchmen will halt work Tuesday to keep yards orderly as turmoil hits Omaha Council Bluffs packing houses and employment drops with 2500 to 3000 workers idle amid disrupted traffic and tense depots.
An Eagle Pass dispatch details Mexican soldiers led by Captain Murros crossing into Texas to seize a fugitive. After beating him, a fight erupted with Deputy Sheriff Thad White and Sheriff Cooke. White was wounded and three Mexican soldiers were killed. the lieutenant escaped. Consul Allen reported the incident to Washington.
A Southern Pacific freight train derailed at Hondo bridge near San Antonio as the structure failed, sending the caboose and two livestock cars into the river. Captain Etheridge, owner of the stock, and brakeman Robert Hardesty died. Conductor George Davidson and brakeman Lem Hall were fatally injured.
A village fire in Punapetputa Penn tonight destroyed many homes and stores, leaving about 20 families homeless and causing nearly 76000 dollars in losses. The blaze was triggered by a kerosene lamp overturning.
A Laurel Delaware report says smallpox in its malignant form spread from Annie Davis who contracted the disease in Wilmington and traveled to her sister Mrs William H Cordrey. The Cordrey family including Mr Cordrey his wife and six children fell ill with several deaths, two more victims, and a perilous condition for others. The attending physician's son is reported to be ill.
In Mernan Wisconsin on February 27 medical circles report Abel Willard aged 89 growing a full set of upper teeth after years without a single tooth. The case is described as the first on record proving an elderly person can teethe eluding the normal aging process and associated pains.
European dispatches detail Chamberlain's praise for treaty conduct and a deteriorating condition of the crown prince of Germany. Reports from Berlin and San Remo diverge on recovery, with official sources abandoning hope while the family prepares for a possible death and political succession.

A party of 30 young New Yorkers riding to a King's Bridge dance were tossed from an omnibus that tipped over an embankment twenty feet high. All suffered bruises, with Minnie O'Neil and Annie May badly contused and taken to Ninety-ninth Street Hospital.

Secretary Bayard, a noted equestrian after daily rides near Washington, was thrown when his horse stepped into a broken drain on the West End Rock Creek road. The horse rolled atop him, but Bayard escaped serious injury. he suffered bruises and stiffness. The horse remained uninjured beyond shock. He remarked the animal seemed to weigh five tons during the fall.
Amos Bronson Alcott, venerable philosopher and diet reformer, died just before noon at 10 Louisburg Square, surrounded by family. Born November 29, 1790 in Connecticut, he rose from rural beginnings to become a noted educator and writer, famed for Conversational Lectures and his influential but solitary career in moral reform and self education. His long life, marked by relentless study, travel, and teaching, began on a farm and included clock making, book peddling, and early diary keeping finishing with a legacy as a pioneering, if controversial, educational thinker.

In 1861 near Sandy Ridge Georgia Elaine Moon, 16, and Harry Miller, heir to Judge Miller, planned marriage before he went to war. Captured, later reports claimed his death or lives in California. A tramp reappeared at Elaine's door denying ties while she remained married to another man years later, sparking heartbreak and rumor.
The will of W W Corcoran filed in Washtnox Feb 29 awards 100000 to the Corcoran Art Gallery and 50000 to the Louise Home with prior gifts of 1600000 and 500600 respectively. Five thousand to each of three urban asylums and 3000 to the Pattie Sisters of the Poor. Remainder left to three grandchildren.
March 5 report from W. T. notes a dreadful disease among Nez Perces on the Colville reservation’s western side. Black measles has claimed 42 lives in days with 14 more dying. Medicine men push river dipping, a practice causing universal deaths, while white residents respond to other treatments.
