Two Democratic Leaders Weigh Chicago National Convention
New York June 23. In a talk with Abrams Hewitt and other Democratic leaders, Mr. Hewitt says he will not express a current preference on where the next National Democratic Convention should be held, signaling caution in front of the national committee. The Iroquois Club of Chicago seeks views, while Dougherty of Pennsylvania notes calm local politics and a cautious national view, praising Headley as a strong nominee but preferring Hancock if a Western candidate is chosen, and questioning Tilden's age.
