Chappaqua Woman Fights Burglars in Daring Staircase Clash
In Chappaqua two burglars with a dark lantern forced entry to Theo Mellows’ rambling home. Mrs Mellows, awakened by a crack in the boards, seized a burglar, hurled him down stairs, and rang a bell as her husband fled danger. The attack ended with Mellows injured and the home ransacked as the intruders escaped.
