Tilden supporters push Green while Flower backers coach, Campbell gains traction, and Stalwarts are expected to reveal their hand soon.

William O'Brien age 40 of 334 Cabot Street, a driver for Owen Nawno of 208 Centre Street, was killed when a load of hay in bales shifted and crushed him between the hay and a beam at the Metropolitan car stables on Pynchon Street. His horses bolted, a bystander tried to stop them, and he died within moments. Remains taken to Police Station 10. wife and employer notified. He leaves a wife and one child.
A suspicious 18 year old deserter from a reform school, armed and carrying several disreputable novels, was arrested by Sheriff Kent in the woods at North Hampton. One associate leveled a pistol but the officer overpowered him before it fired. He carried a paint box and had partially colored himself.
A Minneapolis & St. Louis construction train carrying fifty seven laborers derailed and overturned down an embankment into a water slough near Saint Paul Minnesota. Several workers sustained injuries though specifics are unclear. In Sonora Apache raids killed villagers at rancho Cariso Sahuaripa district and two other attacks left a single survivor among fourteen raiders.
A wild cat engine coming south on the Delaware & Hudson railroad near Putnam on Lake Champlain collided with a Montreal train from Albany going north at noon Friday. Both locomotives the baggage car and one drawing room car plunged down the embankment. The engineer of the wild cat was killed and several passengers were seriously injured.
In Camden county two boys about 17 seized a 12 year old boy, forced him into a river, held his head under water until he drowned, then left the body on the river bank. The body showed signs of alligator scavenging. No trace of the murderers has been found.
A special dispatch from Atchison Kansas says almost the entire village of Mankato on the Central branch of the Missouri Pacific road was destroyed by fire last night. The blaze was the work of an incendiary. Loss is not yet known but largely covered by insurance in Barnard, Nebraska.
