Embezzlement Arrest and Island Escape News

Frank G. Creamer was arrested Monday in Pittsfield for embezzling $500 from Charles G. Merrill and handed to state police. Alfred Deyvenn, 42, was injured when struck by a West End car in Cambridge. Albert May and W H Coltman, teens, escaped Deer Island by constructing a raft. An unknown woman suffered an apoplectic episode after which she was taken to the city hospital. Mrs. Richard Fitzgerald was wounded by a sauce pan while trying to halt a fight. A junk store on Lincoln Street was broken into, with $25 in items stolen. August St Mary was arrested for robbing Renny Hart of $18.

Centennial Celebration of Prince Hall African Lodge in Boston

Celebrations marked the one hundredth anniversary of the warrant empowering Prince Hall and others to form an African lodge in Boston. A midday parade led by Chief Marshal Capt. Charles F. A. Francis featured numerous lodges and guests, ending at Copps Hill burial ground for ceremonies over Prince Hall’s grave. Afternoon Tremont Temple exercises included reading the original warrant, an oration, and music, with Prince Hall’s gavel used by the presiding officer. A grand evening reception and promenade concert followed at Odd Fellows hall with Brown's Brigade band.

Attendance tops all prior Mondays at fair opening

Attendance yesterday surpassed any previous Monday as excursion parties plan daily visits. The Boston Scientific Society displays coral from Mr Ritchie's private collection and an egg of the green canary beside the ostrich egg, plus the alligator naturalist. Peabody Court Fines Man for Keeping Open Shop on Sunday

In Peabody court on Monday William Carney was fined 50 dollars and costs for keeping open shop on Sunday. Jonathan R Gay, age 55 of Stoughton and partner at Ward and Gay stationers in Boston, suffered a stroke Sunday but improved Monday. A wreck occurred on the Saugus branch railroad near Linden crossing in Matac. a rock weighing 200 to 300 pounds lay across a rail.

Man Struck by Locomotive in Concord Yard

John Gorman of Fitchburg Mass aged about 40 was struck by a locomotive in the Concord railroad freight yard in Manchester tonight and thrown about 15 feet. His left cheek and nose were badly crushed and his scalp nearly torn from his skull. He was taken to a hospital in a partly conscious state and likely to die.

Gloucester city auctioned Huntress legacy property sale

The city of Gloucester received the late Joseph F. Huntress residence at 377 Harrison Avenue Boston and a rear estate at No 1 Gloucester Place as a legacy. Hatch & Co. auctioneers sold the property on Monday for the citys benefit, with Richard F Parker buying for $14 140.
