The Warren Avenue Baptist Church pastor announced he will perform marriage ceremonies at no charge for poor and deserving couples who cannot afford the usual fee. He emphasized the church provides all services except the wedding.
Manila reports 14 new cholera cases and 3 deaths in the 24 hours to 8 am Monday. The bureau of sciences and local medical schools staff are mobilized, with disinfectant shortages forcing experiments with electricity and sea water to generate chlorine. Willie Baryguer, a bright Polish lad from 250 Athens Street South Boston, leaped toward an inbound Dudley streetcar at 6:30 pm and was knocked against the front dash. He slid under the car but emerged unhurt aside from minor scratches after passengers and the motorman pulled him free and doctors cleaned his face.

At 3 30 this morning a threatening fire broke out in the Swett Block on Main Street Melrose two alarms were sounded. The blaze began in the basement affecting the four story wooden building housing real estate offices and the Melrose Club. Firemen fought hard to confine it as residents in rear tenements fled in night clothes and policemen carried children from smoke filled stairs. Damages not yet estimated.
In Watertown on September 27 Annie Gallagher, 13, tried to coax a Scotch collie to eat. The dog bit her hand and later bit her father John J Gallagher when he attempted to medicate it. The dog was chased to the cellar and taken to the police station for confinement.
Emil Gran Jr of West Wareham, a Tech student injured in a cane rush last week, died this morning in Worcester.
