Three Die in Maine Central Wreck at State Fair Grounds
Three people are dead and 29 hurt after passenger train No. 24 struck an open switch and collided with a freight train near the State fair grounds in Lewiston Maine. Engineer Kimball and Fireman Chapman were thrown from the cab. Chapman died, Kimball died moments later. Dozens were injured, some burned, and many required hospital care. Conductor Edward Lowe led the ill fated trip, which departed Yarmington at 2:25 p.m. bound for Portland. The wreck occurred at about 4:20 p.m. as it traveled about 30 miles per hour, destroying the engine and several cars as fire broke out.

British diplomat fined for contempt and speeding
Hugh Gurney third secretary of the British embassy was fined 25 dollars for contempt of court and 25 dollars for speeding after refusing to plead in Lee District Court Stockbridge Massachusetts.
