Worcester Congressman Thayer and F J Stimson met in Boston to prevent a clash over the Democratic platform on the new corporation law. After a three hour conference they agreed to a compromise likely avoiding a contest and paving a harmonious settlement between Thayer and party leaders.
Leaders across the Massachusetts Democratic Party say they will not endorse ex Secretary Richard Olney at the upcoming state convention. They argue delegates were not elected to endorse a candidate, and Olney may be considered at a later convention.
In Northfield Vermont on September 20 authorities and two county farmers hunt Adelbert Martin, accused of assaulting Mrs. Tromblee. Posses armed with scythes and rifles scour Dog River valley, vowing swift, merciless justice if he is caught.
Jimmy Collins and Henry Killilea reach new terms ending a bitter dispute over a world championship series. The telephonic talks secured an agreement favorable to players, with Collins accepting terms and a five game series set to begin at Huntington Avenue next Thursday. The Pirates travel to Pittsburg for four games, with potential return to Boston if needed.
State police tracing forgery network to Ward 10 politicians. Governor Bates will receive the police report, then Attorney General Parker to act. Walter J. Holden admits talks with Bates but denies any deal. Forgeries estimated at 100 signatures, with ministers and schoolboys among those employed to sign. Representative Winter HB Nichols of Ward 10 confesses circulating the petition and endorsing legal pool selling.
