On day two at Readville, Little Boy powered to fast miles in 2:06 to 2:07 ranges, outpacing eight rivals in the 2:14 class trots. Dreamer and Alkalone contended in earlier heats, while Lamp Girl and Alcidalia battled for pace, with Little Boy delivering a spectacular display of speed that dominated the field.

Somerville Firemen Win at New England Muster

Somerville veterans captured first prize at the firemen muster in Hingham, topping a field of notable New England teams with a 190 feet 91-4 inch throw. Mechanics of Warren Rhode Island took second at 181 feet 71-2 inches, while East Braintree veterans placed third at 180 feet 43-4 inches. Special prize for greatest distance went to General Bates Company of Lisbon Falls Maine.

Michael Beats Pierce In Twenty Mile Pace

Hartford Sept 25 Jimmy Michael won a twenty mile paced race at the Velodrome by six caps over Burns Pierce. Michael’s splits were 8:29 3-5 for five miles, 17:02 2-5 for ten, 55 4-5 for fifteen, and 84:10 4-5 for twenty. Pierce surged early but Michael gained steadily with Empire State express pacers Austin Crook and Walter Sherer riding.

Track Records Set On Four-Cornered Track at Tapare

In Tapare Haute Ind on September 55 two world records fell on the four cornered track. Geers drove The Abbot to a mile in 2 03 1 4 breaking his own trotting mark of 2 08 8 4. Coney driven by Ed Gallord of Denver beat the amateur pacing record with a 2 03 3 4 mile.

New York and Boston slugged in Monday’s dismal exhibition while Selee’s men dominated Tuesday’s doubleheader. Starry Elkes Scheduled For Week of Races and Tours

Starry Elkes will race through the week meeting McEachern in Fealtimore Thursday and Ross in Worcester Saturday. If possible he will go to Providence Sunday for a three cornered race with Miler and Pierce. The Boston Cycle Club plans most of next Sunday on Long Island tests. A large club turnout will depart Friday by Fall River boat to New York, spending Saturday there and Sunday in Long Island before returning to Boston Monday afternoon. Westfield Meet Opens With Close Races at Woronoco Park

The New Westfield Driving Association opened its September meet at Woronoco Park with the 2:26 class trot and 2:27 pace. Blue Boy won the pace in straight heats, last heat 2:17 4. The 2:26 class was unfinished, Sampson winning two heats and Tannerine Speedwell and Clonteaf Boy Jr each taking one.
