General Marin to Investigate Assault on Reporter

War General Marin says he will investigate the assault on a newspaper reporter by Patrolman Glancy. He met with a Postman at the police commissioners' quarters and demanded details from Chief Sildridge. The case prompts a formal complaint by lawyer Timothy W. Arrest of a Fence Joseph Lambert in Fall River

In Fall River on Sept 24 inspectors Feeney and Perron arrested Joseph Lambert a 35 year old tall red mustached man known as Dutchy Sullivan. Lam bert admitted fencing stolen jewelry from ex mayor James F Jackson's Highland avenue home and a later raid at Leary's block Quequechan street yielded numerous items and about 25 dollars of Jacksons property. The haul valued at least 700 dollars includes diamond rings satin shawl and other valuables. Lambert previously served ten years for highway robbery in Boston.

Chelsea Fires Leave One House Nearly Gutted

Fire alarms from Chelsea boxes 4 and 7 report two blazes. Wallace E. Allen’s Springvale Avenue wooden dwelling suffered heavy damage worth 600 to the structure and 300 to furniture, both insured. A second fire at 43 Tremont Street, owned by Charles A Campbell and occupied by Daniel H Kelly, caused 100 in building damage with cause unknown.

Knife attack in Cambridge Street alley injures 16 year old

William Mitchell a 16 year old resident of Lindell place was severely cut in the head and body in an alley behind 18 Cambridge street by an unknown Italian youth. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with doctors uncertain of survival. The incident followed tormenting of Italian peddlers by a crowd of boys, prompting a pursuit into the alley where Mitchell was stabbed and his assailant fled. The Italian boy was described as about 16, 5 feet tall, 190 pounds, in dark clothes.

Galloupe for Sheriff Leads Delegates in Sparse Chelsea Caucus

Chelsea Republican caucuses drew the lightest vote in years with 1145 ballots from about 3800 Republicans. Galloupe's APA-backed slate won 24 of 26 state delegates, while Ward 2 elected O'Brien delegates Buck and Morrill by slim margins. State delegates were unpledged and likely anti Greenhalge, with Maccabe favored for Senator. Willard in the 26th district beat Everdeem by 164 votes. Ward 1 to Ward 5 lists of delegates follow.

In Lynn on September 24 Republicans chose state convention delegates while the A P A ticket was defeated in each Essex district. Bartlett and H H Atherton won first and fifth district delegates. Melrose Caucus Renominates Greenhalge Supporters

The Melrose Republican caucus held at Town Hall selected an almost unanimous town committee ticket in favor of Governor Greenhalge's renomination. George L. Morse was elected chair. Cambridge iron moulder Charles Mansell and his wife are estranged after Mansell left with widow Amelia Sanborn, a Boston millinery worker. State Endeavorers Gather for Pittsfield Meeting Oct 8 9

The Massachusetts Christian Endeavor Union prepares a major event in Pittsfield October 8 and 9 with Boston delegates and officials attending. President Clark Treasurer Shaw State President Allen will speak, and excursions to Berkshire Hills follow the convention.
