Market Surprises Bulls Stirring in New York Notes

The market in New York Saturday shifted to the bull side as the Sugar Trust denial of increased indebtedness and coalers’ strength steadied investor sentiment. A narrow market with persistent demand keeps bears uneasy while rail earnings loom large. Local activity is muted yet higher figures may come with steadier trading, and United Gas securities could rally this week. Thomson-Houston remains strong and Atchison prospects brighten with London return of Thomas Baring. Eastern dividend clarity awaits, while Bradford disaster charges impact year’s accounts. The iron trade stays firm with solid demand for pig iron and manufactured iron. Bank lending remains scant, and outside currency movements hint at westward rather than eastward flows. The United States Window Glass Co buys Illinois window-glass factories. Colonel Strong not seeking rail positions now. Cape Cop.
