Whit ney fanned ten Detroits on the infield dominated by strong fielding while Burdock Merrill sparked the Boston offense with timely hits and aggressive baserunning. An early miscue by Wood allowed a Detroitz run, but Burdock’s single and Morrill’s double produced the decisive run in the sixth. A July 4 1884 centennial celebration was approved in principle with a committee to arrange with Roxbury City Guard and to prepare a history for publication. A past commanders committee was formed to seek a new armory. A permanent uniform was discussed but not decided. The next meeting is set for October 10.
