Insurance Men Press Changes to Soldiers and Sailors Bill

Public hearings on the soldiers and sailors insurance bill concluded before the Senate finance sub committee with insurers and others proposing changes. J H Harper urged placing administration under the pension office and transferring it to the Treasury to cut costs. Dr Charles W Richardson urged keeping disabled soldiers under surgeon general care during rehabilitation. George Ide attacked the optional insurance provision as opening pension legislation and class legislation. Minor edits were made by Judge Julian Mack. Gompers and Morrison presented labor support to President Wilson, who was said to be in accord with enacting the measure now.
