A supposedly mad dog rampaged through the streets of Wara 2 this morning causing a panic. Seven officers were dispatched and succeeded in killing the animal and two other dogs that had been bitten. One or two more dogs were bitten but escaped.

Sioux City Iowa September 18 The Democratic State convention opened with E H Hunter as chair and Irving B Richman named temporary leader. Horace Boies and L Weston were nominated for governor and lieutenant governor respectively with a platform backing lower taxes opposition to trusts rail and patent voting reform railroad and corporate control and liberal veterans pensions.
The forty first annual session opened at First Baptist Church Oakland Street with three sessions. Baptisms reached 638 for the year. Total membership stood at 13 680 and church property valued at 2 187 750. Benevolence expenditures totaled 55 017 75 while overall church expenditures were 213.

London docks were crowded with vans carrying export goods as a long Keighley iron workers strike ended with masters conceding demands. About three thousand demonstrators gathered at Victoria dock demanding the dismissal of new workers. guards protected those at work while Cardinal Manning and city officials met with dock directors to urge restraint and adherence to a no-molestation agreement.
At Brown in Providence on opening of the first half term, E Benjamin Andrews was formally presented as president. The ceremony featured praise from Dr Samuel Caldwell and strong student cheers as Andrews pledged to unite faculty and students toward renewed enthusiasm and progress for Brown University.
May's Lanpine New Jersey Sept 18 The court heard Mrs Robert Ray Hamilton indicted for assault on her child's nurse Mary Donnelly. Nurse testified Hamilton attacked with throat grip a bottle and a knife. Robert Ray Hamilton testified in favor of his wife describing quarrels over money and a possible separation. The defense portrayed nurse Donnelly as intoxicated. Court adjourned. verdict, likely conviction with leniency expected.
The New York committee selects a 425 acre World’s Fair site in the northern part of Central Park and along Morning Side Park extending toward Ninety Sixth Street. The area includes the north meadow and likely the triangle beyond and may remove certain park features. A Friday meeting will formalize adoption of the territory.
In New York on September 18 reports circulated of a possible vast anthracite coal trust formed by magnates, with Standard Oil figures said to be involved. President Corbin of Reading is widely linked to the scheme, his European trip fueling speculation, though coal company officials deny any trust plan.
In New York on September 18 the prosecution announced the People's case was finished. Brooke moved to acquit on grounds the indictment charged one offence of issuing fraudulent stock and rested mainly on clerk Woodruff’s testimony. The court denied the motion and sent the case to the jury. Brooke will open for the defense tomorrow.

Forest City Nevada faces threats from forest fires as towns evacuate. Seaford Town Hall Masonic Hall and several stores burned in Wilmington Delaware, total loss about 30000 partly insured. Western Union office burned in Bangor Maine gutting four story block with heavy damage. Rushville New York fire destroyed several buildings in a four story brick block, stock and building damage around 1000 to 20000.
Opening of Princeton college year marks adoption of a two term system replacing three terms. New studies expand elective offerings and lower classes gain branches previously taught to upper years. The electrical engineering school opens strong with a entering class twice the size, and total college enrollment reaches a record high.
