Miss Gertrude Buell Dunn traveling under an assumed name as a governess arrived in New York aboard the Lorraine with Mrs I Mazzonovich. Dunn is a settlement worker and nurse who was linked to Ferdinand Pinney Earle of Monroe New York. The Mazzonovich party says Earle's notoriety over marriage affairs caused their estrangement.
Passengers dispute who is Miss Dunn and the supposed governess. When asked before the Lorraine docked Miss Dunn insisted she is not another person. Mrs Mazzonovich said she does not know if Miss Dunn is aboard the Lorraine.
Mrs. Maud Stock sues Fred W. Stock Jr. for separate maintenance in Newton plaza. She alleges he moved her furnishings from 711 Washington Street Brighton during her absence and barred her from possessions. Neighbors report furniture removal. Stock, a flour magnate heir, is a Boston club figure.
The body of Dr Henry M Stone a dentist from Newburyport and Harvard summer resident was found on the main highway between Ayer and Harvard with bruises and bloodstains on a stone wall nearby. Authorities suspect murder robbed on the highway and moved. Autopsy to determine death toll. Stone last seen Monday night leaving Mrs Davis home for the train to Newburyport. His wife a Gloucester dentist learned of the discovery.
J W Cotton a real estate broker his wife and two children escaped death when a Boston Street home caught fire in the early hours. Roused by crackling flames they were trapped in the dining room before firefighters reached the scene and carried them to safety.
Deputy Sheriff A H Fillebrown took charge after the body of 56 year old Dr Stone was found near Ayer Junction. Medical Examiner George L Tobey called in to review the case amid suspicious circumstances. Officials fear a motive linked to potential trouble with a hidden assailant as deputies investigate the doctor’s death.
