Cranberry Crop Threatened by Stormy Weather
Cranberry growers in southeastern Massachusetts and the Cape warn that continued rain and autumn frosts will ruin the crop. Picking slowed after Labor Day due to floods, risking substantial losses for workers and about 10,000 bog investors. Government experts estimate a 10,000 barrel shortfall, with Carver Middleboro and Wareham expected to suffer larger drops.
