A dreadful Midland railway collision near Doncaster killed 24 and injured about 70. An excursion train halted on a crossing while collecting tickets was struck by the Liverpool express. Carriages telescoped and smashed.救援 slow. Cause attributed to defective signalling.
The second day featured a grand military parade with President Cleveland reviewing 30 000 uniformed men. 10 000 attended the Academy of Music reception for President and Mrs Cleveland. Other items note racing results, a cattle report, a body found, political moves, fines, funerals, gale damages, and baseball league winners.
After a brief session Parliament was prorogued until November 30. In the House of Lords the lord chancellor read the Queen's speech closing the session. Two Midland Railway trains collided near Doncaster with twenty four people killed and about seventy injured.

In Greenfield on September 16 Mrs. Patrick Murray was found fatally injured near a railroad wall in Tough End after an alleged assault by two men. An autopsy cites a broken neck and back from a fall, with scalp wound to the head. husband Patrick Murray detained as investigation continues.
Fasvan House N H Sept 16 The New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals aims to end racing horses over the carriage road from the Glen House to Mt Washington summit. Ten days ago De Webb son in law of Vanderbilt and Major Wetmore drove eight miles with six horses in 1h 9m 50s. The team owned by Charles R Milliken Co and sold to carriage occupants faced no clear responsibility. Charles Q O Hara of Gorham was arrested on complaint by Colonel Marvin society president and held for trial.
At a Worcester County Musical Society rehearsal Edward I. Davis announced a brother Charles J. Davis gift of 5000 dollars to the association. The donation is unconditional and free of any conditions.
President Diaz opened Congress with the usual ceremonies this evening in Crix or Mexico, marking the start of the legislative session.
The cigar makers lockout continues after a failed attempt to use the State board of arbitration. Unions 07 and 128 agreed to levy a week’s pay from their supporters while dispute persists. The strikers demand Cohen’s apprentice be discharged, but Cohen refuses. Manufacturers anticipate new workers by next Wednesday.
