Endicott Tree Bears Pears and Lowell Exhibition Soon

The Salem Gazette notes the old Endicott tree yields a bushel of pears this season. The Middlesex North Agricultural Society holds its third annual exhibition in Lowell Wednesday to Friday with stock fruit and a ploughing match, plus a speech by E. F. Sherman and a public dinner. In Wrentham a woman murdered by her husband is laid to rest. Lewis faces trial after denial from witnesses. Also in Wrentham Wilson Ballou attempts to shoot his wife but fails while intoxicated. In New Orleans a Sept 1 anniversary mass memory honors Lopez and fellow victims of the Cuba conflict.

Opening of Franklin Park at Saugus by New England Horse Exhibition

The Franklin Trotting Park in Saugus opened to the public, detailing a one mile gravel track, surrounding trenches, and spring water near the entrance. A trotting match occurred between Rose of Lawrence and Lady Franklin of Saugus. A grand exhibition is planned for March 22 25 with talk of a nearby hotel and a depot.
